DeltaForesight Inc. (Representative Director and CEO: Yusuke Jindo) has raised a cumulative total of approximately US$2.1 million through the issuance of J-KISS stock acquisition rights. Coral Capital led the financing, with participation from FFG Venture Business Partners, Decima Fund, Animoca Brands K.K., HashPort Inc., DeFimans Co., Ltd., Narrative Inc., and other investors.

DeltaForesight contributes to the development of JPY DeFi, a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol that will enable users to borrow JPYdf against crypto assets, stablecoins, and other eligible collateral. JPYdf is a crypto-backed stablecoin designed to track the value of the Japanese yen. The company is sharing an overview of the protocol ahead of its mainnet launch.

Note: “Crypto-backed stablecoin” describes a design intended to maintain a stable value. JPYdf does not represent a yen-denominated monetary claim, a right to redemption in Japanese yen, or any other currency-denominated asset under Japan’s Payment Services Act. Tracking the value of the yen is a design objective only. Value linkage to the yen, price stability, redemption in Japanese yen, and preservation of principal are not guaranteed.

Why DeltaForesight Was Founded

Crypto assets trade across borders, around the clock. Yet most stablecoins used in DeFi are denominated in U.S. dollars. For people who live in Japan, earn revenue in yen, and use yen for accounting and taxes, borrowing in dollars adds USD/JPY exchange-rate risk to the price volatility of their crypto assets.

Fiat-backed stablecoins play an essential role in connecting the financial system to onchain markets. Tokenizing yen held in bank accounts and other reserves expands the ways existing yen can circulate. That alone, however, cannot fully connect the global liquidity held in crypto assets and U.S. dollar-denominated assets to economic activity measured in yen.

JPY DeFi aims to create JPYdf liquidity from assets other than yen. Users would be able to borrow JPYdf against crypto assets, U.S. dollar-denominated stablecoins, and other eligible collateral, connecting global onchain liquidity to borrowing, investing, and trading measured in yen. The aim is to build a form of finance whose growth is not limited solely by the scale of an issuer’s yen reserves.

If this model gains adoption, economic activity measured in yen would no longer need to start solely with yen balances held in Japan or with domestic users. More people around the world could use crypto assets and U.S. dollar-denominated assets as collateral to borrow, invest, and trade JPYdf. Our vision is to expand the use of the yen as a unit of account across onchain markets.

Crypto collateral still carries risk. Price volatility makes adequate collateral, predefined collateral-ratio requirements, and clear liquidation conditions essential. JPY DeFi is designed to make collateral positions and the rules for issuance and liquidation verifiable onchain. It starts from the idea that users should have an option that does not rely solely on a particular issuer’s creditworthiness or discretion.

Yusuke Jindo, DeltaForesight’s founder and CEO, passed Japan’s certified public accountant examination with the highest score nationwide. At Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu LLC, he audited financial institutions and crypto-asset exchange service providers. He then worked at Mercari and Mercoin, helping obtain registration as a crypto-asset exchange service provider and launch the service. He later served as CFO and head of the validator business at Animoca Brands K.K. He also serves on the steering committee of the Tax System Review Committee at the Japan Cryptoasset Business Association (JCBA), contributing to policy proposals on crypto-asset taxation.

His work across audits, regulatory registration, service launches, business operations, and policy advocacy led him to a conviction: building crypto-asset services that take root in Japan requires responsibility for both regulatory compliance and product development. He founded DeltaForesight to bring the two together.

JPY DeFi alone will not determine the future of the yen. But we believe it can help establish an onchain presence that reflects the yen’s longstanding role in global finance. DeltaForesight was founded to put that vision into practice.

About JPY DeFi

JPY DeFi is a DeFi protocol under development that will enable users to borrow JPYdf against crypto assets, stablecoins, and other eligible collateral.

Under the protocol’s design, JPYdf is issued on an overcollateralized basis, backed by assets deposited by users and governed by rules encoded in smart contracts. Users can borrow JPYdf without selling their holdings. If collateral values fall and a position’s collateral ratio drops below the required threshold, however, the position may be liquidated.

Development is progressing toward mainnet launch alongside a review of legal requirements and the arrangements for making the protocol available. Available features, terms of use, and launch timing will be announced as this work progresses.

Investor Comments

Coral Capital: James Riney, Founding Partner and CEO

There have been previous efforts to bring the yen onchain, but constraints on fiat-backed models, including issuance limits, KYC requirements, and zero yield, have left yen liquidity largely undeveloped. DeltaForesight is taking a very different approach: creating JPYdf liquidity backed by crypto assets from around the world. Jindo is one of the few founders in this field who has audited crypto-asset exchange businesses as a certified public accountant, worked at the forefront of regulation, and can see product development through to implementation. We are honored to be among the company’s first investors and to help expand the use of the yen as a unit of account in onchain finance.

FFG Venture Business Partners: Junpei Oyamada, Manager

DeltaForesight is taking on an important challenge: bringing finance measured in yen onchain. We believe the company’s expertise and ability to execute can open up new connections between financial institutions and onchain finance. We look forward to its continued growth and the development of the ecosystem.

Decima Fund: Ken Kitahara, General Partner

The Japanese yen has a smaller presence onchain than in the real world, and we see a significant opportunity for financial services built around the yen. We hope JPYdf can become one such option, and we will support DeltaForesight, a homegrown Japanese venture, as it takes on this challenge.

Animoca Brands K.K.: Naoki Matsuo, Representative Director and CEO

During his time as our CFO, Jindo worked closely with people across the business and drove many initiatives forward. At a time when the yen’s international role is in question, we hope JPY DeFi will expand the use of the yen as a unit of account onchain and become a project that attracts attention across the global digital asset market.

HashPort Inc.: Seihaku Yoshida, Representative Director and CEO

The adoption of yen stablecoins depends on the development of onchain financial services as well as payment and remittance services. We see JPYdf as an effort to open up that possibility. I have worked with Jindo for several years. His character, expertise as a certified public accountant, understanding of financial regulation, and experience in blockchain make me confident that he can succeed in this challenge. As a wallet provider with more than one million users, HashPort aims to be a “port” connecting yen stablecoins with society. We will fully support Jindo’s efforts as we work to become that connection for JPYdf.

DeFimans Co., Ltd.: Taishi Sato, Representative Director

Government-led efforts will only put a larger onchain share for the yen further out of reach. For users to choose tokens such as JPYdf, permissionless utility, ample liquidity, and transparent operations are essential. We have high expectations for DeltaForesight’s ability to deliver all three.

Narrative Inc.: Ingi Kim, CEO

Onchain liquidity is global, but almost all of it is denominated in dollars. Seoul-based Narrative backed DeltaForesight because we believe demand for a yen alternative extends well beyond Japan. Users across Asia and around the world want to borrow and trade JPYdf, and build products around it, without selling the assets they hold. JPY DeFi opens that path.

Comment from Yusuke Jindo, Representative Director and CEO

I want the yen to be a unit of account used across global onchain finance. It is an ambitious goal, and I believe we can achieve it.

With JPY DeFi, our ambition goes beyond bringing yen held in Japan to the rest of the world. We want to enable JPYdf borrowing and trading backed by crypto assets and U.S. dollar-denominated assets from around the world. That would expand the use of the yen as a unit of account, both beyond Japan and across onchain markets.

I have worked in this industry as an auditor of financial rules, helped launch crypto-asset services, and managed a Web3 company. Those experiences taught me that new forms of finance cannot take root in Japan when regulation and product development move separately. I founded DeltaForesight to take responsibility for both regulation and technology, through to implementation.

We are still preparing for mainnet launch, working through security, legal compliance, risk management, and operational readiness one step at a time. I am deeply grateful to the investors who have believed in our vision and potential and supported us at this stage.

Trust in finance is earned over time, not on launch day. We will repay the trust placed in us through a working product and responsible operations.
